WEEKLY POEM FOR HUMANITY: THE CHICK

“When a chick breaks through its shell

It’s afraid of what’s outside.

And at first it doesn’t want to leave the comfort of that shell.

But then the light starts to come through in the holes and the cracks

that have been made,

And the chick thinks, ‘What is that light that shines so bright?

I’m so used to this darkness; do I dare enter that light?’

And then more of the shell is peeled away,

And then, in that darkness, they can no longer stay.

At this point, you do not see that you will fly and soar

And so you stay where you are, asking for more.

But what you define as possibility

Is not your responsibility.

Just allow the shell to fall.

You can trust Us.

Okay?

Thank you.”
